There's lots to do in Switzerland!

We fly into
Geneva
where we will spend three nights at the beginning of our trip and two nights at the end
of our trip. here we will have opportunities for lots of interesting
day trips. These include various
lake cruises.

Annecy is 1 hour 20 minutes from Geneva by train.

Nyon is 15 minutes from Geneva by train.
Lausanne is 28 minutes from Nyon by train. It's 40 minutes by train back to Geneva.

We spend a night in
Bern
on the way to Interlaken. The capital of Switzerland
offers an interesting old town, the Paul Klee Center, museums of history and art,
Switzerland's tallest cathedral, and views along the Aare River.
Interlaken,
our hub for seven nights. We have more than enough
day trips available from Interlaken to keep us busy for a week.

On a clear day, the views are spectacular from the highest railway station
in Switzerland. There are two routes from Interlaken up the
Jungfraujoch,
one entirely by trains and the other involving a 15 minute cable car ride. Take a full
day to go up one route and back the other to get all the scenery.

Lauterbrunnen is 22 minutes from Interlaken by train.

Wengen is is 13 minutes by train from Lauterbrunen.

At the opposite end of the Thunersee from Interlaken,
Thun
is a pretty village with in interesting old town and a 12th century castle.
It is a 33 minute train ride from Interlaken. There is
also a 2 hour 10 minute lake cruise between Interlaken and Thun.

The Brunngasse in
Brienz
was once awarded the title of "most beautiful street in Europe." Brienz is no more than 20 minutes
from Interlaken by train. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to travel between Interlaken
and Brienz by boat.

Iseltwald is one of the stops on the Lake Brienze boat tour.

You can take a bus or ferry from Brienze to Glessbach waterfall.
Lucerne
has two medieval bridges across the Reuss, a defensive wall with nine towers, and
a medieval Old Town to explore. It's 2 hours from Interlaken by train.
